Wellborn Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Wellborn fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620, depending on linear footage, gate hardware, and whether we’re working with your existing posts or setting new ones. Most owners call us after a storm season when sections start leaning, a gate won’t latch, or the original install from another contractor never sat right in Miami’s sandy soil. We stock the common Wellborn-compatible fence hardware and hardware kits on our trucks, and we can usually get most repairs and replacement sections done in a single visit.
Here’s what happens in Miami specifically: the heat and humidity eat powder coating faster than you’d expect, the salt air within a few miles of Biscayne Bay corrodes uncoated fasteners, and the afternoon thunderstorms loosen posts set in sand without proper concrete footing depth. If your fence is three to five years old and you’re noticing rust at the bolt heads or wobble at the post bases, you’re not imagining it. That’s normal wear for this climate, and it’s fixable.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn’s fence product line covers a few distinct series, and the hardware is not all interchangeable. The residential aluminum fence panels use a standard 2-inch square post with punched rail channels, while the ornamental steel line uses thicker gauge posts with pre-drilled mounting tabs. Where owners get tripped up is assuming any Wellborn gate hinge kit fits any Wellborn gate. It doesn’t. Gate weight and panel height change the hinge spec. If you have a 6-foot ornamental steel gate, the hinge kit for a 4-foot aluminum panel won’t hold it straight.
To identify what you need, check the inside of the post cap or the back of a picket near a rail. Wellborn stamps a series code there, usually a letter followed by digits. Measure your panel height and post dimension before calling anyone because that combination tells us most of what we need to know before we even see the fence. As for OEM versus aftermarket: Wellborn’s own hardware is well made, but we’ve also installed quality aftermarket powder-coated brackets and hinge sets that hold up just as well in Miami’s weather, sometimes at 30 to 40 percent less than the OEM part. We’ll give you both numbers and let you decide.
One note for transparency: Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Wellborn, we’re not a Wellborn dealer, and we don’t claim to be. We install and repair their fence products because Miami homeowners ask us to, and because we know the product line well enough to be honest about what it needs.

Signs Your Wellborn Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean after a storm. This is almost always a footing issue. Miami’s sandy soil doesn’t grip concrete the way clay does up north, so a post set at 18 inches instead of 24 to 30 inches will start leaning within a season or two. We see this most in neighborhoods like Kendall and Westchester where the soil drains fast and shifts.
- Gate sagging or dragging on the latch side. Hinge wear is the culprit nine times out of ten. The top hinge takes most of the load, and once that barrel wears even an eighth of an inch, the whole gate drops and the latch stops lining up.
- Rust bleeding from bolt heads or rail junctions. Salt air within a few miles of Biscayne Bay accelerates corrosion on uncoated steel hardware. If you’re seeing orange streaks running down pickets from the fasteners, the hardware is failing even if the panels still look fine.
- Loose pickets or rattling panels. Punched-rail construction with snap-in pickets works until the punch points fatigue. Older Wellborn fence installations with aluminum pickets tend to rattle in high wind after a few Miami summers of thermal expansion and contraction.
- Gate won’t stay closed or latched. This is often a combination of hinge wear and post shift. Fixing one without the other means you’ll be back adjusting it in three months.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed cost for Wellborn fence work in Miami falls between $4,130 and $10,620 for a typical residential project. That range covers full panel replacement, post resetting, gate hardware swaps, and finish work. What drives the number is linear footage first, then the condition of your existing posts, then gate count and hardware spec. A straight 60-foot run of aluminum panels with good posts might land near the bottom. Replacing 120 feet with two gates and several failed post footings pushes toward the top.
Every quote includes parts, labor, concrete work where needed, debris removal from the old hardware, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If something we installed fails within a year, we come back and fix it. That’s not a courtesy, it’s the terms we hand you before any work starts. The price we put in writing is the price you pay. No change orders for surprises we should have caught during the walkthrough.
DIY or Call Us?
Some of this work is genuinely DIY-able, and I’ll tell you which parts. Straight panel removal and reinstallation on an aluminum Wellborn fence is a two-person Saturday job if your posts are solid and you have the right punch tool. Adjusting a gate latch is simple. Where homeowners get hurt or wreck their fence is trying to reset a post solo, especially a gate post with concrete work involved, or trying to tension the rail connectors on an ornamental steel panel without the right jig. If the post is lean, the concrete footing has failed, and that means digging, bracing, leveling, and a pour. Do it wrong and you’re redoing it in August.
Our recommendation: check your series code, measure your panels, and if the posts are solid, you can probably handle panel swaps. If the posts are moving, call us at (850) 801-8046 before you dig. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service visit or a full estimate.
FAQs

A properly installed Wellborn fence in Miami lasts 15 to 20 years on the aluminum panels, though the gate hardware typically needs replacement at the 5 to 7 year mark due to hinge wear and salt corrosion. Post footings set to the right depth and diameter are the single biggest factor in lifespan here. Call (850) 801-8046 if you want us to assess how close your fence is to needing work.
Yes, in most cases we can replace individual panels, reset specific posts, and swap gate hardware without touching the rest of the fence. The exception is when multiple posts have shifted and the rail alignment has been compromised across a long run. We’ll give you the repair price and the replacement price side by side so you can decide what makes sense for your budget.
Most single-gate hardware replacements and panel swaps are done in one visit, typically four to six hours on site. A full fence installation with new posts and concrete work runs two to three days depending on linear footage and how many post holes we’re setting. We’ll give you a written timeline with the quote and send photo updates before and after the work. Call (850) 801-8046 for a free estimate and an honest schedule.
We keep common Wellborn-compatible hinge kits, latch sets, post caps, and rail brackets on our trucks for the most popular series. Less common ornamental steel hardware may need to be ordered, which typically adds three to five business days in Miami. We’ll tell you during the initial call whether your part is one we carry or one we’ll need to source. Estimates are free either way, so call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll sort it out from there.
Luca Romano grew up in Los Angeles and learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending decades running job sites across the country. He and his crew have been working Miami for years, and the thing that separates this kind of fence repair from a generic handyman call is knowing which post is load-bearing, which hinge spec matters, and when a panel is worth saving versus replacing. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch. If your Wellborn fence is leaning, rattling, or refusing to latch, call (850) 801-8046 for a free estimate. We also stock and install parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone product lines.
