CGI Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

CGI fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full panel and post system, and most failed sections can be swapped out in a single visit because we stock common CGI-compatible hardware on the truck. You usually discover a problem the morning after a storm, when a panel is bowing loose at the rail or a post has shifted in soggy ground. The fence that looked fine at closing suddenly doesn’t close, doesn’t line up, and rattles every time the wind kicks off Biscayne Bay.

We’re Sawyer Remodel Miami, an independent contractor serving Miami and nearby areas, not a CGI dealer or factory affiliate. But we work on CGI fence systems constantly because they’re all over Dade County, from Kendall to Cutler Bay. Luca Romano and our crew know exactly how these panels behave in salt air, hurricane season, and limestone-heavy soil, and we price the work the same way we price every job: a written number before anything gets touched.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

CGI fence installation covers the brand’s residential aluminum fence lines, most commonly the Sentry, Estate, and Ornamental series you see around Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and Palmetto Bay. The compatibility gotcha with CGI products is the rail-to-post bracket style: older installs used a square bracket with a set screw, while newer panels use a notched slide-in bracket that locks differently. You can’t mix them without a small adapter plate, and we see homeowners bring home the wrong bracket from a supply house at least once a month.

To identify your exact part, look for a small sticker or stamped code on the inside of the top rail, usually near a post. If it’s weathered off, measure the rail width: CGI rails come in 1-5/8″ and 2″ profiles, and the picket spacing differs by series. We stock OEM CGI hardware for the most common series and quality aftermarket equivalents for discontinued profiles. For a Miami exterior within ten blocks of salt water, we recommend aluminum or stainless hardware over galvanized, because the galvanized coating breaks down in about half the time in that environment.

Two specifics worth knowing: CGI panels are powder-coated with a marine-grade finish, so minor scratches can be touched up rather than warranting a full panel replacement. And the factory warranty is normally non-transferable, which surprises a lot of second owners in Miami. We’ll tell you honestly when a panel still has life in it and when it’s time to replace.

Signs Your CGI Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Panel sagging at one end. The rail bracket has pulled away from the post, usually because the set screw backed out or the bracket itself corroded. This gets worse fast in Miami humidity, and the panel will eventually drop onto the ground or the neighbor’s property.
  • Gate dragging or latching off-center. Your post has shifted. In Dade County, that’s often a concrete footer that was poured too shallow or too narrow for the soil, and the post starts leaning in the wet season. The gate hardware isn’t the problem; the foundation is.
  • White chalky residue on the rails. That’s oxidation starting on bare aluminum where the powder coat has been scraped, cracked, or drilled. It won’t eat through the metal, but it spreads under the finish and looks terrible long before the fence fails structurally.
  • Rattling along the whole run. Multiple pickets have come loose from the rails. CGI panels use a punch-and-crimp system that can loosen over time, especially on a fence that gets direct afternoon sun on the west side of the house, where the thermal cycling is strongest.
  • Loud popping at a post during midday heat. That’s the post bracket expanding against the post cap or the rail. It’s not always a failure, but it means the bracket is bound up tight. If it’s left that way through one more storm season, the rail can crack at the connection point.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled living room with built-in shelves around the fireplace

For a typical Miami homeowner, CGI fence installation or replacement runs $4,130 to $10,620 for most jobs. The lower end covers a straight section of standard-height panels on flat ground with existing posts in good shape. The upper end includes taller panels, gate replacement, posts that need to be reset or refooted, and hauling away the old material.

Here’s what drives the number up or down:

  • Post condition. If the posts are solid, the panel swap is straightforward. If they’re leaning or rusted at the base, we’re digging and pouring new concrete, which adds real time and material.
  • Soil conditions. Miami limestone can make post excavation slow. In some yards, we’re cutting through pure oolite, which adds labor but also gives you a rock-solid footer.
  • Panel height and style. A 4-foot Sentry panel costs less than a 6-foot Estate panel with a spear-top and scrollwork. You’re paying for material, not markup games.
  • Access. If the fence is against a retaining wall or behind mature landscaping, our crew works slower and smarter, and that shows up in the labor line on your written estimate.

Every estimate from Sawyer Remodel Miami is a written, line-item price before the work starts. Parts and labor are separated so you can see exactly what the materials cost. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the panel we installed fails inside a year, we’re back to make it right. That’s in writing, not a handshake.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely handle a few things on your own: touching up small scratches on a CGI panel with touch-up paint, tightening a loose set screw on a rail bracket, or clearing debris from the gate track. If a panel is just rattling at one picket, that’s a five-minute fix with a rubber mallet and the right backing block.

But here’s where DIY goes wrong on CGI fence installation in Miami: homeowners try to reset a leaning post by packing dirt around it, which does nothing. Or they force a jammed gate, which bends the hinge and twists the entire panel out of square. Once a post has shifted, the fix is digging out the old footer, pouring new concrete to the right depth, and resetting the post plumb. That means lifting full panels and balancing rails on uneven ground, which is awkward and tends to end with scratched cars, scraped hands, or a fence that still doesn’t close. If your post is moving or a full panel is dropping, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll put eyes on it, tell you if it’s a repair or a replacement, and give you a written price either way.
