CWS Windows & Doors: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install CWS-compatible window and door parts across Miami, with most hardware swaps running $295 to $2,950 depending on whether we’re replacing a roller assembly, a lock, a hinge, or a full sash. Most owners realize something’s wrong the same way: a window that suddenly takes two hands to open, a door that scrapes the frame, or a lock that stopped catching. Here’s what you’re dealing with and what it costs to fix it right.
Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS built its name on impact-rated windows and doors for coastal Florida, so the hardware underneath is heavier than what you’d find on a standard residential window. The most common CWS lines we service in Miami are the 9500 and 9700 single-hung and horizontal roller series, plus the 8500 casement and awning line. If you can find the label, it’s usually on the top edge of the sash or inside the frame track: you’re looking for a four-digit series number followed by a sizing code like “SH-48×60.” No label? Measure the glass and the frame depth, and we can match it from that.
One compatibility gotcha we see constantly in Miami: CWS changed its roller and lock geometry between older 9000-series production (pre-2010 or so) and the current 9700 line. The parts look nearly identical, but the offset on the roller bracket is different by about 3/16 of an inch. Put the wrong generation in and the sash will never seat square. We keep both generations on hand in our Miami trucks because guessing wrong on this one wastes a service call. We’re an independent local contractor, not a CWS dealer, but we’ve been matching their hardware long enough to know which part goes with which year.

Signs Your CWS Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Sash jumps out of the track when you open it: The roller housing has cracked, usually from years of salt air working on the stamped aluminum. Once the housing splits, the wheel binds and the sash rides up.
- You have to deadlift the window to close it: The stainless roller bearings have seized. In Miami, this is rarely rust – it’s more often fine sand and grit from coastal wind working its way into the bearing race.
- The lock lever turns but never catches: The multi-point lock rod has slipped out of alignment. CWS locks are cam-driven on the 9700 series, and the cam wears flat after about eight to ten years of daily use.
- The window slides fine but rattles when closed: The weatherstripping channel has compressed. CWS uses a TPE bulb seal that shrinks in sustained heat, and South Florida summers are brutal on it.
- Water seeps at the bottom corner after heavy rain: The weep hole cover is missing or the sill dam has degraded. Impact-rated frames drain through a very specific path, and when that path clogs, water finds the drywall instead.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Miami homeowners can expect to pay for common CWS repairs, installed:
- Roller assembly replacement (per window): $295 to $590
- Multi-point lock or latch replacement: $350 to $710
- Weatherstripping and seal replacement: $235 to $530 per window
- Hinge replacement on casement/awning units: $410 to $825 per window
- Full sash replacement (custom order): $945 to $2,950 depending on glass package and size
The spread comes down to a few things: which CWS generation you have, whether the sash has to come out of the opening, and whether you need impact-rated glass reordered from a local fabricator. Every quote from Sawyer Remodel Miami includes parts, labor, and disposal, written as one price before we touch the window. No change orders mid-job. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise – if the part fails within a year, we’re back at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can clean the track, check the weep holes for blockage, and confirm the lock is actually engaging. If the sash is dropping, grinding, or not seating, leave it. CWS sashes are heavy – an impact-rated single-hung sash can run 60 to 90 pounds. One wrong move and you’re looking at a broken pane, a bent frame, or a finger under glass. Roller swaps on these units also require releasing a spring-loaded shoe that sits inside the jamb. It’s not a project to learn on. Call us at (850) 801-8046 and we’ll match the part, bring it to your door in Miami, and have it swapped in about an hour per window.
FAQs

Rollers and locks on CWS impact windows typically last 8 to 12 years in Miami’s salt air and humidity, while weatherstripping often needs replacement at the 5 to 7 year mark. If you’re noticing rattling, stiffness, or seal gaps, call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a quick swap or a larger issue.
Roller assemblies and lock cams on CWS hardware are riveted or staked at the factory, so they’re replacement items, not repairable ones – Miami’s coastal grit just accelerates the wear on the pivot points. We keep the high-failure parts stocked locally so you’re not waiting on a special order.
Most single-window hardware swaps – one roller set, one lock, or one weatherstrip channel – take 45 to 60 minutes on site. Full sash replacements run longer because the glass fabricator needs time to cut and temper the Impact glass to the CWS frame spec.
We stock rollers, locks, hinges, and weatherstripping for both CWS generations on our Miami service trucks, and we source full sashes and glass packages from a local fabricator we’ve worked with for years. Give us the series number from your window label and we can confirm same-week availability before you book.
When your CWS window or door stops working the way it should, you want the right part and a straight price. We stock the hardware, we know the generations, and we show up when we say we will. Call (850) 801-8046 for a free estimate on your CWS repair in Miami. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch.
