CWS Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

CWS fence installation in Miami typically runs between $4,130 and $10,620 for a full post-and-panel system on a standard residential lot. We stock CWS-compatible posts, brackets, rails, and hardware on our trucks, so most installs are completed in one to two days once materials are confirmed. Most Miami owners discover they need this work after a storm season pushes leaning posts, or when rust from salt air starts eating through the original brackets at the concrete line.

Here’s the reality with CWS fence systems in South Florida: the failure is rarely the product design. It’s usually what Miami’s climate does to steel over five to ten years of humidity, storm-driven rain, and salty air coming off the Atlantic. We’ve pulled CWS posts out of concrete in Kendall that looked fine above ground and were nearly rusted through below the surface. This page tells you exactly what we look for, what it costs, and when you’re better off calling us instead of fighting it yourself.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS fence installation covers the full catalog of CWS (Commercial Wood Systems) fencing products: post-and-rail systems, privacy panels, pool code fencing, and their heavier commercial-grade steel lines. The compatibility question we get most often in Miami is whether aftermarket posts will work with original CWS brackets, or vice versa. The answer is usually yes, with one gotcha: CWS uses a slightly different post diameter on their 8-foot commercial line than on their residential 6-foot line. We’ve seen plenty of owners order the cheaper residential post and find out the original bracket won’t seat on it. That’s a return trip and another week of waiting.

On the OEM versus aftermarket decision: for CWS specifically, we recommend OEM brackets and hardware if the fence is under ten years old and you’re only replacing failed fasteners. Aftermarket steel posts from US suppliers are fine for the structural side, as long as you match the gauge and diameter. What we don’t recommend are import panels claiming “CWS-compatible” without a spec sheet. The powder coat thickness is where the cheap stuff falls apart in Miami. OEM CWS powder coat runs 3 to 4 mils. The import stuff is often 1.5 to 2 mils, and that’s a five-year fence in this humidity.

Signs Your CWS Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts, especially after a heavy rain. This usually means the post base has corroded below the concrete line or the concrete footing itself cracked. In Miami, we see this most in yards with poor drainage where water pools at the fence line during summer storms.
  • Rust streaks running from bracket seams. The fastener points are where CWS fences fail first. Salt air gets into the screw holes, the zinc coating gives way, and the rust starts traveling. Once you see streaking, the fastener is already compromised.
  • Loose or rattling panels in normal wind. If panels are moving independently of the posts, the rail brackets have either backed out or corroded internally. This is a warning sign before the panel tears loose in a tropical storm warning situation.
  • Visible sag between posts. This points to rail fatigue or a post that’s been shifting. On CWS systems, sag usually means the mid-rail has lost its connection to at least one post. It will only get worse as the panel weight redistributes.
  • White oxidation on aluminum or galvanized components. That white powder is the top layer of zinc or aluminum oxide doing its job, but when it’s thick and flaking, the component has spent its protection. In Miami’s humid air, that transition happens faster than the national average for this product category.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a complete CWS fence installation in Miami, plan on $4,130 to $10,620 depending on the linear footage, whether we’re pulling existing posts or starting fresh, and the panel style you choose. On the lower end, you’re looking at a straightforward swap of existing panels with new hardware on sound posts. On the higher end, we’re pulling rusted posts, re-pouring concrete footings, and running new rail systems on a larger lot.

The range breaks down like this:

  • Full CWS post-and-panel replacement (50-80 linear feet): $4,130 – $7,080
  • Larger lots or commercial-grade CWS line (80-150 linear feet): $7,080 – $10,620
  • Partial repair (replace failed posts/brackets only): $1,180 – $4,130

Every CWS fence installation we do in Miami includes the written price before we start, the parts and labor broken out, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a post shifts or a bracket fails within a year, we come back and fix it. No invoice, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before picking up the phone. Look at the post bases for visible rust, wiggle each panel to find which connections are loose, and check whether the concrete footings have any cracks running through them. If the issue is one loose bracket or a single panel that needs re-seating, some handy Miami homeowners handle that with basic tools. Fence work is not inherently dangerous the way high-tension garage springs or live electrical is, and we’ll tell you that straight.

Where DIY goes wrong is when posts need to come out. Pulling a CWS post set in concrete means either digging out the old footing or installing a new post with a concrete pour, and in Miami’s sandy soil, that pour needs to be deeper than what most weekend projects account for. A fence line that’s out of level will show every mistake. If you’re looking at more than one failed post, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll give you a written estimate and tell you what’s actually necessary, not what’s convenient for us to sell.
