Belgard Home Additions & ADU: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Belgard home additions and ADU construction in Miami typically runs $53,100 to $153,400 for a complete build, depending on square footage, foundation work, and finishes. We stock Belgard-compatible pavers, wall blocks, and hardscape materials on our trucks for repair and expansion work, and we can match your existing Belgard product line so the new section doesn’t look like an afterthought. Most Miami homeowners discover they need this work when a wall block shifts, a paver section sinks after heavy summer rain, or the original ADU foundation wasn’t poured thick enough for Florida’s sandy, shifting soil.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard splits its product lines into several series, and mixing the wrong one is the most common compatibility mistake we see in Miami. The Holland Stone and Mega-Arbel lines use different thicknesses, and a Holland paver won’t sit flush next to a Mega-Arbel block without a visible height difference. If you’re adding a paved section or a retaining wall to an existing Belgard installation, we match the series by checking the underside stamp or edge profile, not just the color. Belgard’s color blends, like the Catalina and Lafitt ranges, also shift slightly between production runs, so we color-match against the existing install in person before ordering.
For the OEM versus aftermarket decision, we’re direct about it: Belgard’s own pavers and blocks are engineered for consistent density and freeze-thaw performance. Aftermarket equivalents from local Miami suppliers can work on a budget, but they rarely match the texture or color exactly. On a home addition or ADU hardscape tie-in where the old and new surfaces meet at a doorway, that mismatch shows. We default to genuine Belgard material unless you’re replacing an entire section and want to switch series entirely.

Signs Your Belgard Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Sinking pavers near the ADU entrance. This almost always points to a base that wasn’t compacted deep enough. Miami’s sandy soil settles fast, and a two-inch paver base sinks far quicker here than it would on clay. We fix it by lifting the section, re-compacting with at least four inches of crushed concrete, and releveling.
- Retaining wall blocks shifting forward or cracking. That’s hydrostatic pressure from Miami’s rainy season. If there’s no drainage gravel and weep holes behind the wall, water pushes the whole structure forward. We add drainage and rebuild the affected course, not just shove the block back.
- Visible gaps opening between pavers that were tight a year ago. Edge restraint failure. Without solid edging, the whole field creeps outward. We install aluminum or concrete edge restraint and snap the pavers back tight.
- Efflorescence, that white chalky film, that won’t go away. In Miami’s humidity, mineral salts leach through constantly. It’s cosmetic, but if it’s heavy every season, you’ve got standing moisture under the surface. We’ll check the slope and drainage while we’re out.
- ADU slab cracks reflecting up through pavers laid on top. If the concrete under the pavers cracked, the pavers will follow it. That’s a structural issue, not a paver issue, and we address the slab before relaying anything on top.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full home addition in Miami, you’re looking at $53,100 to $153,400. That range covers everything from a single-room bump-out with matching Belgard hardscape tie-in at the lower end, to a fully permitted ADU with foundation, electrical, plumbing, drywall, roofing, and a paved outdoor area at the top. Where your project falls depends on square footage, whether we’re matching an existing Belgard series or starting fresh, and how much of the existing hardscape needs to come up and get rebuilt.
Here’s how the numbers break down so you can plan:
- Home addition (framed, finished, permitted): $53,100 – $153,400
- ADU construction (full build-out): $106,200 – $259,600
- Garage conversion to living space: $35,400 – $94,400
- Paver patio tie-in (Belgard material, proper base): $4,130 – $12,980
- Paver driveway (if your addition changes the entry): $8,260 – $21,240
Every quote we write is a fixed price before work starts. That number includes the permit, materials, labor, haul-away, and the written 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something we installed fails inside a year, we come back and fix it. No change order surprises at the end.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a safe middle ground here. You can absolutely inspect the joints, check for standing water after a rain, and note where a wall block has moved. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling up pavers on an ADU footprint or trying to reset a retaining wall course yourself. Retaining walls hold back real weight, and a block released at the wrong moment can take a chunk of your hand with it. Same goes for anything tied to the ADU foundation or slab, that’s structural work and it needs a licensed contractor standing behind it.
If you’re not sure whether what you’re seeing is cosmetic or structural, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll look at photos or come out, tell you straight what’s going on, and write you a price. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch.
FAQs

With a proper base and drainage, Belgard pavers and wall blocks last 25 to 40 years in South Florida, but the base underneath typically needs attention around the 10 to 15 year mark because of our sandy soil and heavy rainfall. If it’s failing at year five, the base was never right. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you what’s underneath before we quote anything.
Yes, in most cases we can lift, re-base, and re-lay just the affected section and match the color closely from the existing field, though exact color match depends on how much the original material has faded. Miami’s UV is hard on pavers, so a fresh batch will look new for a few months before it weathers in. We’ll show you the match before we install.
A paver patio or walkway tie-in typically takes two to four days including base prep and drainage work, while a full ADU build runs three to six months depending on permitting and scope. We give you a written timeline with the quote and stick to it, photo updates included.
We keep a working stock of common Belgard series like Holland Stone and Mega-Arbel in the truck for repairs, and we order specialty colors and block sizes per job, which usually takes three to five business days in Miami. That keeps your repair moving without waiting on a full pallet order when you only need forty pavers.
