Abodu Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you own an Abodu home in Miami and the bathroom is starting to show real wear, a full remodel typically runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, depending on size, materials, and how much plumbing has to move. We stock and install Abodu-compatible bathroom systems and can usually have a written price in your hands within one visit. Most Abodu owners call us when the original builder-grade shower pan starts flexing, the vanity swells at the base from humidity, or the original tile grout has gone from white to something that looks like it belongs in the Everglades. In Miami’s salt air and year-round moisture, the first bathroom components to fail are almost always the ones touching water daily: the shower system, the vanity base, and the floor substrate beneath the tile. Our crews replace all three so the bathroom works like it should have from day one.
The short version: if your Abodu bathroom is failing, you’re not crazy, the materials were never built for Miami humidity, and the fix is a full remodel we price before we start.
Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu builds two main product lines in North America: the single-story Studio series and the two-story Duo series. Both use a modular panelized construction, which means bathroom components arrive as pre-built pods with specific rough-in dimensions that don’t match standard big-box fixtures. The Studio 600 and Studio 900 bathrooms share a 60-inch by 30-inch tub/shower rough-in, while the Duo models use a slightly narrower 54-inch footprint on the primary bath. If you’re not sure which you have, check the serial tag on the inside of the bathroom door jamb; the model code starts with either “ST” or “DU.”
For Abodu specifically, we recommend the following approach when something fails: if the failure is cosmetic (grout, caulk, trim, paint), aftermarket materials work fine. If the failure is structural or involves the shower pan, the waterproofing membrane, or the plumbing rough-in, use OEM-spec replacements or full aftermarket systems designed for modular construction. Abodu’s original shower pans are a proprietary acrylic composite that standard tile pans don’t match without modifying the drain location. We’ve done enough Abodu bathrooms in Miami to know exactly which aftermarket pans drop in without moving the drain, and which ones require cutting into the subfloor. That’s the difference between a $12,000 remodel and a $30,000 rebuild.
There’s one compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Abodu’s plumbing rough-in heights are set for their original vanity models. If you swap to a standard-height vanity from KraftMaid or Cambria, expect to move the drain stub and supply lines. We do that as part of every Abodu vanity replacement, but it’s a real line item that budget-homeowners don’t expect. We’re an independent Miami contractor, not affiliated with Abodu, so our recommendations are based on what actually holds up in Florida humidity, not what a factory spec sheet says.

Signs Your Abodu Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Soft spots around the toilet flange or tub edge. Water has been getting past the seal and into the subfloor. In Abodu’s modular construction, the subfloor is a composite panel that swells and softens over time in Miami’s moisture. This is not a caulk fix; the panel likely needs replacing before the new flooring goes down.
- Shower pan flexing or cracking. The original Abodu pan is designed for temperate climates, not Miami’s daily humidity cycles. Once it starts to flex or hairline-crack near the drain, it’s compromised, and water is getting underneath. Replacing it with a properly sloped tile pan or an upgraded composite pan is the only permanent fix we’re willing to sign off on.
- Vanity base swelling or delaminating. The original Abodu vanity uses a laminate-wrapped MDF that absorbs moisture from shower steam even with a vent fan running. Once the bottom edge swells, the doors won’t close tight and the laminate starts peeling like sunburn. This is the most common call we get from Abodu owners in Brickell and Coral Gables.
- Grout turning black or orange. Black means mold trapped in the grout; orange means hard water from Miami’s mineral-heavy municipal supply has stained the grout. Abodu’s original grout is sanded without a penetrating sealer in many units. We remove and regrout with a sealed epoxy grout that holds up to Miami’s water chemistry.
- Water staining on the ceiling below the bathroom. In a two-story Duo, a failing shower pan or wax ring will show up as brown rings on the ceiling below. If you see this, shut off the bathroom water and call us. By the time the stain is visible, the leak has been active for weeks, and the longer it sits, the more subfloor replacement you’re looking at.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Abodu bathroom remodel in Miami runs $10,620 to $33,040. Most mid-size projects (a tub-to-shower conversion with new tile, a new vanity, toilet, and fixtures) land between $14,000 and $22,000. At the low end, you’re doing a cosmetic refresh: regrout, new fixtures, a pre-built vanity, and a new toilet. At the high end, you’re gutting to the studs, moving plumbing, installing a custom tile shower with a Schluter waterproofing system (the orange membrane that goes under the tile), and dropping in premium materials from Kohler or Cambria.
The line-item breakdown matters, so here’s what drives the range on an Abodu bathroom in Miami:
- Demolition and disposal: $590 to $1,180, depending on whether we’re stripping tile or pulling the whole pod.
- Shower or tub build: $3,540 to $11,800. This is the single largest variable. A direct tub-to-shower conversion with a prefab pan stays low; a custom tile walk-in with a linear drain pushes high.
- Vanity and countertop: $945 to $3,540 installed, including the plumbing rough-in adjustment Abodu requires.
- Flooring: $1,180 to $2,950 for tile or LVP, including water-resistant underlayment.
- Fixtures and hardware: $590 to $2,360 depending on whether you choose Moen, Kohler, or Grohe.
Every quote includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the work isn’t done right, we make it right, no second invoice. You get the written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t change at the door. No change orders, no “we hit a surprise” phone calls. If the subfloor is worse than we thought, we eat the time, not you.
DIY or Call Us?
If the problem is cosmetic (caulk, grout staining, a loose towel bar), you can absolutely handle that with a trip to the hardware store. No harm in trying, and if it doesn’t work out, you’re only out a Saturday.
But if your Abodu bathroom is showing any of the structural signs above, especially a flexing shower pan, a soft subfloor, or a ceiling stain, do not try to fix it yourself. The reason is simple: Abodu’s modular construction hides water damage behind panels that look fine from the outside. By the time you see the problem, the repair involves cutting into the composite subfloor, possibly moving plumbing, and rebuilding the waterproofing envelope. One wrong cut and you’ve turned a $14,000 reconstruction into a $30,000 one. And if you get into the drain plumbing, this is a flood risk, not a weekend project.
What’s safe to check: run the shower for five minutes, then press around the drain from inside the shower. If it feels soft or springy, you have water underneath. Check the ceiling below if you have a Duo. If any of that feels off, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll send a real person to look, and you’ll get a written price before anything gets cut.
FAQs

How long does an Abodu bathroom remodel last in Miami?
A properly done Abodu bathroom remodel in Miami with epoxy grout, a waterproofed shower system, and sealed vanity materials lasts 15 to 20 years before you’ll want to refresh finishes, though the shower system itself should hold for 25-plus. The original Abodu components typically last 5 to 8 years here before the humidity claims them. The difference is entirely in the materials and the waterproofing, not in how carefully you clean. Call (850) 801-8046 for an exact quote on your bathroom.
Can my Abodu bathroom be repaired instead of remodeled?
It depends on what failed. A cracked shower pan, a soft subfloor, or a vanity that’s swelling at the base is a replacement, not a repair, because the underlying material is compromised. Cosmetic issues like stained grout or loose caulk can be repaired. We’ll tell you honestly which one you have, and we put that recommendation in writing with a price attached before any work starts.
How long does an Abodu bathroom remodel take in Miami?
A full gut-and-rebuild takes 3 to 4 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. A cosmetic refresh (fixtures, vanity, regrout, paint) takes 5 to 7 days. We give you a live arrival time for every day of the project, so you always know who is showing up and when.
Do you stock Abodu-compatible parts in Miami?
Yes. We keep aftermarket shower pans, waterproofing membranes, drain assemblies, and fixture rough-in parts that work with Abodu’s Studio and Duo models on hand or within one day from our Miami suppliers. We’re an independent contractor, not an Abodu dealer, but we stock what actually works for these units in Florida’s climate, not just what matches a spec sheet. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll confirm the part you need before you book.
