Barrette Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Barrette-compatible driveway and paver components across Miami, with most homeowner part replacements running $295 to $2,125 installed depending on what failed, and full paver driveway installations running $8,260 to $21,240. Most parts are on our trucks and ready to go same-day. The most common way Miami homeowners find us is a paver that’s heaved up after a storm, an edge restraint that’s let go and let sand wash out, or a driveway section that’s sunk below the garage apron and now catches water against the foundation. If you’re seeing any of those, the part itself is usually simple. Getting it matched to your existing Barrette layout without creating a visible patch is the part that takes a trained eye.
One thing up front: Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent local contractor. We’re not affiliated with Barrette, and we don’t pretend to be. What we are is a crew that’s installed and repaired enough of their paver lines across Miami to know which pieces are interchangeable, which aren’t, and when a “matching” part will never actually match.
Which Barrette Models This Applies To

Barrette’s paver and driveway lines share a lot of dimensional DNA across their catalog, but the compatibility question is rarely as simple as “it’s a 6×9.” The gotcha we see most often in Miami is thickness mismatch. Barrette drive-rated pavers run 60mm and 80mm depending on the line, and you cannot swap a 60mm top-only piece into an 80mm driveway system without creating a lip that will catch car tires and eventually crack. We match by measuring the existing paver’s thickness first, then the face dimensions, then the color lot. That last one matters more than most owners expect: a “charcoal” paver from a 2019 lot and a “charcoal” from a 2024 lot will read as two different colors once the sun hits them at 5 p.m.
If you still have the original pallet tag or a leftover paver from the install, bring it out. If you don’t, take a clean photo next to a tape measure and we can usually identify it from that. For OEM versus aftermarket: Barrette’s own replacements carry the best color-lot consistency, but for common sizes we often carry quality aftermarket equivalents from the same Florida distributors that supply the original installers. The decision comes down to whether the repair area is in a focal point (right in front of the garage door or a walkway) or tucked where a 2% shade difference will never be noticed.

Signs Your Barrette Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Heaved or rocking pavers after rain. Miami’s wet season saturates the sand base, and if the edge restraint has pulled away from the driveway’s perimeter, the base washes out from the sides. The paver isn’t broken; the system holding it is. The fix is usually pulling the affected section, resetting the base, and rebuilding the edge.
- Sand everywhere after every storm. Joint sand migrating out is the early warning that water is moving through the base faster than it should. Left alone, the pavers start shifting within a few months and you’ll see the first cracks in the surface.
- Visible cracks or spalling on the paver face. This is where Florida sun does its work. Cheaper pavers and older lots can spall, leaving a chalky, pitted surface that holds water and accelerates further damage. Barrette’s better lines are denser, but nothing survives ten Miami summers without some wear. If the cracking is structural, the paver is done; if it’s surface spalling, sealing may buy you a few more years.
- A dip or sinkhole-sized depression near the driveway edge. That’s base failure, not paver failure. In Miami, this usually traces back to organic soil or buried debris under the original installation, and it will keep sinking until the base is excavated and rebuilt. Patching over it with new pavers just means doing the job twice.
- Paver color turned chalky white or gray. Efflorescence, or more likely in Miami, UV breakdown of the original sealant. It doesn’t mean the paver is structurally done, but it does mean the protective layer is gone and the surface is now taking direct salt air and rain. Sealing before full breakdown is far cheaper than replacing the driveway surface.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a targeted Barrette paver replacement in Miami, you’re looking at roughly $295 to $825 for a small repair area (isolated pavers, an edge section, joint sand and compaction), and $1,025 to $2,125 for a larger repair that requires base excavation, new fabric, resetting drainage, and rebuilding a significant section of the driveway. Full paver driveway installation in Miami runs $8,260 to $21,240 depending on the size, tear-out, and base conditions, and paver patio work runs $4,130 to $12,980. Every quote is line-itemed and written before any work starts. That’s our standing rule, not a sales tactic: the number you approve is the number on the invoice. No change orders, no “we found something once we opened it up” surprises.
Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and make it right. Written on every job, no fine-print argument.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely check on your own, and things you shouldn’t touch. Checking whether your edge restraints are intact, sweeping sand back into joints after a dry spell, and hosing down the surface to spot drainage pooling are all fair homeowner work. What we’d tell you not to DIY is anything involving a power compactor near your paver edge, pulling up more than a paver or two, or excavating a sunken base. Compactors in untrained hands will crack adjacent pavers and push your edge further out of square. Base excavation without understanding Miami’s drainage patterns will fix the symptom and make the problem worse somewhere else. And if the affected area is a driveway you park on daily, a failed repair becomes a trip hazard and a car-weight issue.
If it’s small and cosmetic, go ahead. If it involves the base, the edge, or more than a handful of pavers, call (850) 801-8046 and one of our background-checked, uniformed techs will take a look. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch; it needs the right part, the right base, and a written price before we start.
FAQs

A properly installed Barrette paver driveway in Miami should give you 20 to 25 years of structural life, though the surface finish and sealant typically need attention around the 7 to 10 year mark due to UV exposure and salt air. The base and edge restraint are what decide whether you get the full lifespan. Call (850) 801-8046 if you want us to assess how much life your current driveway has left.
It depends on the crack. Surface spalling can sometimes be sealed and stabilized, but a structural crack through the paver means the piece has lost its load-bearing integrity and should be swapped. In a driveway that carries vehicle weight, a structurally cracked paver will only get worse. We’ll tell you straight which one you’re dealing with and what the repair costs before any work happens.
Most single-paver or small-section replacements take a couple of hours including compaction and joint sand. Larger repairs involving base work run one to two days. We’ll give you a written time estimate with your quote, and we show up when we say we will with live arrival tracking, so you’re not burning a day waiting on a four-hour window.
We keep the most common Barrette-compatible sizes, thicknesses, and colorways on our trucks for same-day repairs across Miami. If your specific paver is a discontinued lot or an unusual size, we’ll source it through our local distributors and get you a firm availability date before any work is scheduled. We also carry compatible parts from other names like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for broader remodel work.
Honest answer: with a same-lot match, yes, practically invisible. With a current-production match on a paver that’s been in the South Florida sun for eight years, the new piece will always look newer for the first season. We can accelerate the blend with cleaning and light treatment across the surrounding area, and most homeowners tell us they stop noticing the difference within a few months. If you’re picky about the match, we’ll tell you up front what’s achievable so you’re not surprised.
Call (850) 801-8046 for a free estimate. The quote is written, the part is matched, and the work comes with a year of accountability behind it. Luca Romano and the Sawyer Remodel Miami crew handle everything from a single heaving paver to a full driveway teardown, straight through to the final compaction pass.
