CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install CertainTeed-compatible driveway pavers and paving products throughout Miami, with typical installed paver driveway replacements running $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver series. Most homeowners call us after a section of pavers starts sinking, cracking, or separating at the joints, usually after a few years of Miami’s rain-and-drain cycles have worked the base out from underneath. The first sign is rarely subtle: you’ll notice a low spot pooling water after an afternoon storm, or a paver that rocks underfoot when you step on it, or faded color that makes half the driveway look ten years older than the other half.
We’re an independent Miami contractor, not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we work with their paver lines and matching components because the product tolerances are predictable and we can price the work honestly. Luca Romano and our crew have been pulling up failed paver driveways across South Florida long enough to know that the paver itself is almost never the problem. It’s what’s underneath that went wrong.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s paver lineup is built around a handful of series that share modular dimensions, and if you know the series name you’re 90% of the way to the right part. The most common in Miami are the Grand Pavers line, Tudor Pavers (known for that old-brick look), Lafitt Pavers (the slab-style pieces with clean, modern edges), and the Fresco Pavers series for a more textured, natural-stone appearance. Each series runs in three-piece modular sets: a large rectangle, a small rectangle, and a square, usually in 60mm or 80mm thickness for vehicle traffic.
The compatibility gotcha most Miami homeowners hit: a 60mm paver and an 80mm paver from the same series are not interchangeable on a load-bearing driveway. The 60mm is rated for patios and walkways. South Florida’s sandy soil, combined with heavy rain saturation, means a 60mm paver on a driveway will shift and crack within a couple of years. If you’re patching an existing driveway, measure the thickness of a pulled paver before buying anything: 80mm means driveways, 60mm means foot traffic only.
For replacements, OEM CertainTeed pavers are the safe match when color consistency matters, since the tint and texture are baked in from the same factory lot. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist, but with pavers the color matching between manufacturer A and manufacturer B is never perfect. If you’re replacing a single broken paver in the middle of a field, buy OEM or buy a full pallet. Anything in between will show.

Signs Your CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers sinking in a depression, usually near the garage apron or toward the street. This means the base layer has washed out or settled. Water finds the path of least resistance, and on a Miami paver driveway that path is usually under the base stone, not over it.
- Joint sand disappearing constantly, with pavers loosening side to side. The polymeric sand between pavers is doing the structural work of locking everything in place. When it’s gone, the pavers act like loose teeth and start grinding against each other every time a car rolls over them.
- Efflorescence, that white chalky film, that keeps coming back after cleaning. In Miami’s humidity and rain, salt and minerals wick up through the paver constantly. One cleaning is normal. Recurring within weeks means water is moving through the base the wrong way, which points to drainage problems, not cosmetics.
- Chipped or cracked edges on individual pavers near the driveway edges. This is usually a base problem at the perimeter, where the edge restraint has failed and tire weight concentrated the pressure on the outside rows. A crack here means a bigger problem underneath, not a single paver.
- Color fading that’s noticeably uneven across the driveway, with some areas looking bleached and others untouched. CertainTeed pavers are color-through, so fading is typically surface-level UV and wear. But uneven fading means uneven water exposure or some pavers were replaced before with mismatched lots. It’s a sign of patchwork repairs, and patchwork repair on a paver driveway is like putting a new door on a rotted frame.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, expect these installed price ranges for CertainTeed-compatible driveway and paver work:
- Full paver driveway replacement: $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, existing base, drainage, and paver series
- Paver patio installation: $4,130 to $12,980
- Partial repair, single area re-base and reset: Most jobs land in the $1,500 to $4,000 range once we pull the damaged section, re-grade, compact, and relay pavers with fresh polymeric sand
What drives the price is the base, not the paver. A driveway where the original base is 6 inches of compacted limerock only needs a refresh. A driveway where the base is 2 inches of sand thrown over dirt needs excavation and a proper rebuild. Every estimate from us includes a written line item breakdown: excavation, base stone, compaction, pavers, polymeric sand, edge restraint, and cleanup. The price we put in writing is the price you pay. No change orders. The workmanship warranty covers our install for a full year under our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and the CertainTeed pavers themselves carry their own manufacturer’s warranty on the product.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: pull a loose paver from the edge and measure its thickness to confirm you’re on 80mm, check how much sand is left in the joints, and note where water is pooling after a storm. Those answers help you understand what you’re dealing with, and they’ll help any contractor give you an honest phone estimate.
What you shouldn’t do is attempt a paver driveway repair yourself if you’ve got sinking, significant base failure, or drainage issues. The real problem is underground, and that means excavation, compaction, and proper water management. Get the base wrong and you’ll be pulling the same pavers up in a year and spending twice what the fix would have cost. If you’re not sure which bucket your driveway falls into, call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you straight.
FAQs

A properly installed 80mm CertainTeed paver driveway on a compacted, well-drained base should last 25 to 30 years in Miami, with the pavers themselves outlasting the base. What fails first around here is almost always the base or the edging, not the paver, and that’s why the base is where we spend the most time on installs.
Yes, if the base under the rest of the driveway is still solid, we re-base and reset just the failing section, and it’s the most common job we do. The challenge is color matching against existing pavers that have been in the Miami sun for years, but with OEM CertainTeed pavers and some patience on which pieces go where, a section repair can blend well.
Most paver driveway replacements in Miami take 3 to 5 working days, including demolition, base prep, paver installation, and final compaction. Weather can add a day or two, since you can’t compact a saturated base, and we won’t rush it and leave you with a driveway that sinks in the first rainy season.
We keep common CertainTeed Lafayette and Grand paver profiles in 80mm on hand for immediate repair work across Miami, but specific colors and less common series may need a day or two to pull from our supplier. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll check our current stock and give you a straight answer before anyone picks up a shovel.
