CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

CertainTeed fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 installed, depending on linear footage, fence style, and how much old material has to come out first. We stock the common CertainTeed post-and-rail components on our trucks and can usually complete a standard residential swap in one visit. Most Miami homeowners call us when they find a cracked post, a leaning section after a storm, or hairline fractures running through their rails and bufftech panels that have baked in the Florida sun.

What we see most often in this market: CertainTeed fencing takes a beating from salt air near the coast, afternoon storms that push gusting winds across Kendall and Pinecrest, and the constant heat that makes vinyl expand and contract at its mounting points. The fence doesn’t fail all at once. It starts with one post, one rail fitting, or one corner.

Here’s what you need to know about matching the right part, what it costs in Miami, and whether you should climb into it yourself.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed makes three main fence lines you’re likely to have: Bufftech (the most common vinyl fence in the Miami area), EverNew (the lighter residential line), and the older Grand Haven series for larger properties. Each line has its own post profile, rail routing, and panel width, and the parts are not interchangeable across lines. A Bufftech post cap will not seat on an EverNew post. We’ve seen more than one homeowner order a post online only to find the routing slot sits an eighth of an inch off and the rail won’t slide in.

How to identify what you have: look at the inside of a post cap or the end of a rail. CertainTeed molds a small line code there, and the profile width tells us a lot. Bufftech posts are 5″ x 5″ on standard lines; EverNew uses a sleeker 4″ x 4″. Rails are either routed (slotted to receive pickets) or a solid tongue-and-groove. If you’re not sure, text us a photo of the failed part, the post profile, and the fence’s rough height. We’ll match it before we roll the truck.

On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: for CertainTeed specifically, we recommend staying OEM for the posts and rail fittings. The color formulas (Tan, White, Khaki, Gray) are proprietary, and aftermarket vinyl fades differently in Miami’s UV. You’ll see the mismatch in eighteen months. For decorative caps and post tops, a quality aftermarket part works fine and saves real money.

Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent contractor and not affiliated with CertainTeed or Saint-Gobain. We install and source the parts because we’ve worked with them for years, not because we’re a factory rep.

Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing

  • A single post has gone chalky and started to craze. This is UV degradation, and in Miami it happens faster than anywhere else in the state. The post has lost its plasticizer and is now brittle. Hitting it with a mower or a trash can will crack it like an egg. The fix is post replacement with a new concrete-set post.
  • The fence leans a few degrees away from the house. That’s almost always the bottom of the post rotting or the concrete footing cracking. We see this a lot in low-lying parts of Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay, where groundwater sits high and shifts the soil under the footing.
  • Rails have pulled out of the post router. This happens when the fence flexes in high wind and the rail end punches through the post wall. Once one rail goes, the geometry of the section changes and the next storm takes the whole panel.
  • You can hear a rattle in high wind. That’s rail play, which means the mounting tabs or steel inserts inside the rail have worn or loosened. Left alone, the rattling wears the post channels wider and the repair gets more expensive.
  • Fence sections have visible wave or sag between posts. This is the rail itself losing stiffness, usually from heat cycling. CertainTeed rails are rigid, but after enough years in direct Miami sun they soften and bow. The section usually needs replacement, not adjustment.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

For CertainTeed fence installation in Miami, here’s how the money breaks down:

  • Post replacement (single): $160 – $340 installed, including new concrete footing and color-matched post.
  • Rail replacement (per 8′ section): $75 – $150 in materials, installed as part of a repair visit.
  • Full section replacement (post-to-post): $400 – $850 per section, depending on height and picket density.
  • Full residential perimeter (40 – 80 linear feet): $4,130 – $10,620, all-in with materials, tear-out of the old fence, and concrete disposal.

The range moves on three things: how many posts need new concrete, whether the old fence has to be cut and hauled in pieces (Miami alleys are tight, and we do a lot of jobs where the dump trailer can’t get close), and whether you want a solid privacy panel or a spaced-picket style. Every quote from Sawyer Remodel Miami is a written line-item price before work starts, so you see exactly what the parts cost and what the labor costs. There’s no hidden disposal fee and no change order at the curb. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed fails in the first year, we fix it, in writing, without an argument.

DIY or Call Us?

Some of this you can absolutely do yourself. If a post cap is missing and you know your model line, pop a replacement on and keep moving. If a gate latch is misaligned, that’s a ten-minute adjustment. Checking for cracks in post bases, looking for rails that have shifted out of the router, and watching which direction a lean is developing, those are all safe and useful.

Where DIY goes sideways on CertainTeed fences is the posts. A post is buried two to three feet deep in concrete, and getting the old footing out without hitting a sprinkler line, a cable run, or your neighbor’s side of the property line is the part that gets expensive. We’ve fixed more than a few DIY post jobs where the new post went in plumb but the concrete wasn’t mixed right for Miami’s wet soil, and the whole thing leaned again in six months. If it’s a failed post or a section that needs a new rail, call us before you start digging. We’ll tell you what’s actually broken and what it costs to fix, and the estimate is free.
