Cover Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Cover-compatible driveway and paver components across Miami, with most driveway replacements running $5,900 to $16,520 and paver driveway installations landing between $8,260 and $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver style. Same-week scheduling is typical for driveway teardowns once we’ve confirmed the paver match and base prep requirements. Most Miami owners call us after a summer storm exposes a sinking apron, or when a hot, wet season finally pushes a cracked paver field past the point of patching. The salt air, intense UV, and our summer downpour cycle don’t just age a driveway – they accelerate every weak point in the base underneath it.
Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent contractor, not a Cover dealer or affiliate. But if you bought a Cover driveway or paver package on your property, we can match the materials, rebuild the base, and get the surface looking like the install crew just left.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover doesn’t manufacture pavers in-house. What they sold you is a branded paver system sourced from regional concrete and clay manufacturers, which means the “model” is really the paver profile, color lot, and the base specification underneath it. Identifying your exact paver comes down to three things: the dimensions (most Cover residential packages in Miami use 6×9, 8×8, or 12×12 units), the edge profile (beveled versus square), and the surface finish (tumbled, smooth, or textured). If you still have the original install paperwork, there’s usually a 4-6 character code on the materials list – that’s the manufacturer’s SKU, not a Cover part number.
For OEM matching, we measure the existing pavers against current Miami distributor stock. If your exact color lot is discontinued – and this happens more than you’d think, especially with tumbled finishes that sun-fade differently than fresh stock – we source a quality aftermarket equivalent with a close visual match and blend the field so the transition doesn’t look like a patch job. The aftermarket pavers we stock come from the same regional plants that supply most South Florida builders, so the compressive strength rating (typically 8,000+ PSI for vehicle-rated pavers) is equivalent to what Cover originally installed.
One gotcha to check: if your Cover driveway was installed before 2018, the base spec may not match current Miami-Dade code for vehicular paver applications. We flag that during the estimate because it changes the teardown depth and the total cost.

Signs Your Cover Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or rutted wheel paths. This almost always means the base layer under the pavers has failed, not the pavers themselves. Miami’s summer rains saturate the subgrade, and if the original base was under-compacted or too thin for the soil conditions, the surface follows it down.
- Pavers shifting or rocking underfoot. A stable paver should not move when you step on it. Movement means the sand joints have washed out and the edge restraint is failing. Left alone, the whole field starts to drift.
- Widespread efflorescence (the white chalky film). Some efflorescence is normal for concrete pavers in Miami humidity, but if it’s reappearing rapidly after cleaning, moisture is moving through the pavers from below. That’s a drainage problem, not a surface problem.
- Moss, mildew, or black staining between joints. This is a sign that water sits on the surface long after rain. In Miami’s climate, that standing moisture works into the joints and breaks down the sand locking the pavers together.
- Crumbling edges or spalling on paver surfaces. Salt air and pool chemicals accelerate surface degradation. If your pavers are flaking in patches, the surface seal has failed and the concrete is exposed. Resealing won’t fix already-spalled pavers – they need replacement.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Miami, a full paver driveway replacement runs $8,260 to $21,240. The range comes down to driveway size, base condition, paver selection, and whether we need to address drainage or tree roots as part of the job. A standard two-car driveway in a place like Kendall or Palmetto Bay typically sits in the lower half of that range. Properties in Coral Gables or Pinecrest with longer drives, decorative borders, or complex drainage run higher.
Every quote includes demolition and haul-away of the old surface, subgrade inspection and compaction, new base material to Miami-Dade spec, paver installation with edge restraint, and polymeric sand in the joints. We write the line-item price before any work starts, so you see exactly what the materials cost and exactly what the labor costs. No change orders unless you ask for something different mid-job. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation – if the base settles or the pavers shift within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No argument, no fine print.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check the obvious stuff yourself: look for low spots that hold water after rain, walk the field and feel for rocking pavers, and check whether the edge restraint is still buried or has popped loose. Knowing what’s wrong helps you price the job accurately before you call anyone.
Pulling and re-laying pavers is where DIY goes sideways. Re-compacting a base properly requires plate compactors and knowing what lift thickness the soil will actually hold. Getting the slope wrong means water runs toward your garage or foundation – a bigger problem than the driveway you started with. And if the base has failed, resetting pavers on top of it just gives you the same failure in six months. We’ve torn out plenty of DIY re-lays in Miami where the homeowner spent a weekend and a few hundred bucks to recreate the same problem. Call us at (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a patch job or a full rebuild.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Miami lasts 20 to 30 years for the surface, but the base underneath has a realistic lifespan of 15 to 20 years given our soil conditions and rainfall. If your Cover driveway is over 15 years old and showing multiple failure signs, the pavers may still be fine but the support system is done. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll assess what’s actually failing before you spend money on the wrong fix.
It depends on how widespread the settling is. Isolated low spots can sometimes be lifted and re-based with new material, but if the settling covers more than about 20% of the field or the base is consistently under-spec, repair becomes more expensive than replacement. We’ll show you photos of what the base looks like once we pull a section, so you’re deciding with your eyes, not a sales pitch.
A standard two-car paver driveway replacement in Miami takes 3 to 5 working days from teardown to final compaction, assuming no major drainage work or tree root removal. We give you the schedule in writing before we start, and you’ll get photo updates at each stage: demo, base, pavers, final sand. No four-hour windows and no wondering whether the crew is showing up.
We keep common 6×9 and 12×12 concrete pavers in stock on our trucks for patch work and smaller repairs. For full driveway replacements where we need to match an existing color lot or a specific finish, we order from our Miami distributor with a typical lead time of 3 to 7 days. We’ll confirm stock and lead times in your written estimate.
