Delta Windows & Doors: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have a Delta window or door that won’t lock, seal, or slide the way it used to, we stock and install Delta-compatible replacement parts across Miami, with most hardware swaps running $120 to $480 installed. That covers the common failures: rollers, balances, lock sets, weatherstripping, hinges, and threshold caps. You’ll usually notice the problem before it becomes obvious to anyone else; a window that scrapes when it opens, a patio door that takes two hands to move, or a lock that only catches when you lift the panel just right. Delta built a lot of aluminum and vinyl units for Florida homes, and Miami’s salt air plus humidity ages the moving parts faster than the glass ever will.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta windows and sliding doors show up all over Miami in a few recognizable series. You’ll find older single-hung aluminum units with the Delta stamp on the sash corner, horizontal-roller sliding doors in condos from Kendall to Aventura, and vinyl casements from newer builds. The trick is identifying which generation you have. Look for the etched logo in the glass corner or the stamp on the sash edge. If the logo is gone, measure the visible glass width and the frame depth; Delta aluminum typically runs 3-1/4 inches deep on sliders, while the vinyl lines land closer to 2-3/4 inches. On sliding glass doors, the roller housing snaps into a channel at the bottom of the panel. Delta used two roller diameters over the years: a 1-1/4 inch wheel on pre-2000s aluminum and a 1-1/2 inch offset wheel on later vinyl. Buy the wrong one and the door will either jam against the track or sit too low for the lock to catch.
For the OEM versus aftermarket question: Delta-branded parts are still available through specialty distributors, but the wait can stretch to three weeks and the markup is real. Quality aftermarket equivalents from Prime-Line, Truth Hardware, and Keystone match Delta specs at half the cost and hold up fine in Miami’s climate. We carry both and we’re honest about which one makes sense for your unit. We’re an independent Miami service provider, not affiliated with Delta, which means we can tell you when the aftermarket part is the better call without a brand loyalty filter.

Signs Your Delta Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Opening or closing feels gritty, like sand in the track. This is almost always a worn roller or a balance shoe that’s shed its nylon coating. In Miami, fine construction dust and salt residue work into the track and accelerate the grinding.
- The door panel drops when you unlock it. A roller axle or housing has failed, or in some Delta vinyl sliders, the bottom rail has sagged. If you can see daylight over the top of the panel with the door closed, the rollers are already gone.
- The sash won’t stay up without a prop stick. Delta single-hungs use side-mounted block-and-tackle balances. When the internal spring snaps, the sash drops hard. That’s not a lubrication problem; the balance needs replacement.
- The lock spins or catches halfway. Delta mortise lock sets have a die-cast internal cam that strips over years of Miami humidity cycling. Once it strips, the lock handle turns without ever engaging the keeper.
- You feel a draft even with everything closed. The weatherstripping on Delta aluminum units is a vinyl bulb seal that compresses permanently in Florida heat. Once it’s flat, the window still latches but it never seals.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Miami, expect to pay $120 to $480 for most Delta window and door hardware replacements, installed. Roller swaps on a sliding door run $150 to $260 per panel depending on whether we’re replacing the housing or just the wheel. Balance replacement on a single-hung runs $180 to $350 per window since it means pulling the sash and re-tensioning the new assembly. Lock set replacement lands at $120 to $200. Full weatherstripping on a slider, with the top rail, side channels, and threshold cap, runs $220 to $480. Every quote is a written line-item price before we start; you’ll see the part cost, the labor, and any disposal fees separated out. Our work carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the part we install fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
A few checks are worth doing yourself. Clean the track with a dry brush and check for a loose screw in the handle; that fixes more than you’d think. You can also test whether the lock works with the door lifted half an inch. If it suddenly catches, you’re dealing with rollers, not the lock body. What I’d avoid: pulling a Delta sliding panel out yourself. Those glass panels weigh 80 to 150 pounds depending on the model, and the adjustable roller screws are usually corroded from years of air-conditioned air meeting wet Miami heat. One slipped panel means broken glass and a much bigger invoice. If the diagnosis points to replaced hardware, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll bring the part, install it, and leave you with a working door instead of a project.
FAQs

Rollers and balances on Delta units in Miami typically last 8 to 15 years before they start failing, depending on exposure. Salt air near the bay cuts that closer to 8; inland parts of the city often get 15. If your unit is past that window and suddenly hard to operate, the hardware has lived its life.
Sometimes, but rarely on Delta units. A corroded roller can be cleaned and re-greased, but the housing is usually the problem, not the wheel. A stripped lock cam cannot be repaired. A snapped balance spring cannot be re-tensioned. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you straight whether a repair makes sense or you’re just postponing a replacement.
Most single-part replacements take 45 minutes to 2 hours on site. A two-panel sliding door roller and lock replacement is typically done in under two hours. We schedule a specific arrival time, not a four-hour window, and you’ll get photo updates if we’re opening up a cavity wall.
We stock the most common Delta rollers, balances, lock sets, and weatherstripping sizes on our trucks across Miami. If your unit needs an odd size or a discontinued series part, we can usually source it from our local distributor within 5 business days. Beyond Delta, we also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone cabinetry and surface fixtures.
If your Delta window or sliding door is fighting you, call (850) 801-8046 for a free estimate. We’ll tell you the part, the price, and the day we’ll have it working again.
