GAF Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
GAF fence installation in Miami runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete vinyl fence, installed. We stock GAF-compatible fence components and can typically start within the week, not the month. Most homeowners land here after finding a cracked rail, a post leaning off true, or a gate that drags after a storm, and they want to know if the whole run needs replacing or if it’s a one-part fix.
The short answer: GAF vinyl fencing holds up well in South Florida, but the salt air and hurricane season expose weak points fast. Loose post footings and UV-brittled rails are the two failure patterns we see most in Miami, from Kendall to Little Havana to Aventura. The good news is you rarely need a full tear-out. We match the existing profile, color, and height, and we write the price down before any work starts.
Which GAF Models This Applies To

GAF fencing generally falls into two product families: the Pro Series and the V-200 Series, each with different rail and post dimensions. The Pro Series runs heavier wall thickness on rails and posts, usually 0.135″ to 0.145″, which matters if your fence faces open canal wind in Westchester or full sun off a zero-lot-line wall in Wynwood. The V-200 uses a slightly thinner wall, around 0.100″ to 0.115″, and it’s more common on budget tract-home installs from the early 2000s.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha nobody mentions until they’re holding a rail that doesn’t fit: GAF changed the tongue-and-groove profile on the Pro Series around 2017. Pre-2017 rails will not seat into post-2017 posts without a transition adapter, and not every supplier keeps those in stock. We do, along with aftermarket equivalents that match the original color and fade tolerance within one shade over five years. If you don’t know which series you have, check the inside of a picket near the bottom edge. The extrusion mark is small but readable, and it tells us everything we need to order the right part the first time.
One thing worth knowing before you go OEM-only: aftermarket rails and pickets from a supplier we’ve vetted run 20% to 35% below GAF list, and the polymer formulations are close enough that the warranty still means something. For posts and gate frames, we recommend OEM GAF or nothing. That’s where the structural load lives, and it’s not the place to save fifty bucks.
Sawyer Remodel Miami isn’t affiliated with GAF. We’re an independent contractor who stocks and installs their fencing because it’s what half of Miami already has in the ground, and matching it beats ripping it out.

Signs Your GAF Fence Installation Is Failing
- Rail bowing between posts. This is the classic Florida sun problem. Heat expansion over ten-plus years breaks down the internal webbing inside the rail, and what started flat now sags an inch or more in the middle. It doesn’t always mean the post failed, but it will if it’s left long enough.
- Post lean after heavy rain. Miami soil is sand and limestone, and a post set shallow in a saturated hole will slowly tilt. If you can push the post and see movement at the base, the footing has lost its grip. New concrete is usually the fix, not a new post.
- Gate latch that won’t catch. Salt air rusts the internal spring in most latches within three years near the coast. It’s a $20 part and a ten-minute swap, but if the gate frame itself has shifted, tightening the latch won’t help. You’ll know the difference when the gate scrapes the ground on the swing.
- Chalky white residue on pickets. That’s oxidation, not dirt. It means the UV inhibitors in the vinyl are spent. The fence isn’t structurally failing, but it will get brittle, and the next impact from a lawn mower or a kid or a bad storm takes out a picket instead of bouncing off.
- Pickets rattling in high wind. If your fence sounds like a percussion section during a summer squall, the pickets have loosened in the rail channels. Left alone, they’ll fracture at the edges, and one loose picket becomes a whole section that needs rework.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full GAF fence installation in Miami runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, post depth, and access. A 50-foot run in a backyard with open access lands around the lower end. A 150-foot property line with a gate, a corner with conduit underneath, and zero side clearance between houses runs toward the top, sometimes a touch over if we hit rock during digging.
What that price includes: demo and haul-off of the old fence, new concrete footings set to Miami-Dade wind load requirements, GAF-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and hardware, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise. You get the written price before we start. You get the same number on the invoice when we’re done. No change orders after the fact, no surprise line items.
Part-specific repairs cost less: a snapped rail is $120 to $210 installed. A post reset runs $180 to $350 depending on how much concrete we’re breaking out. We stock commonly ordered GAF rail profiles and post caps on the truck, which means most small fixes are one visit.

You can swap a latch or a post cap yourself. Those are parts you can hold in one hand, and if you get it wrong, the cost of the mistake is a trip to the hardware store. But if a post has moved or a rail has snapped, the job needs digging, leveling, and concrete work, and that’s where the first-time fence repair goes sideways. Setting a post in Miami means going 24 to 30 inches down through sand and limestone, and a post that’s off by two degrees looks fine until the next tropical storm tells you otherwise.
High-tension work doesn’t apply to vinyl fencing the way it does to garage springs or cable wiring, but there’s still a real safety factor when you’re pulling out old concrete footings with fence posts still attached. A 6-foot post can take out a window or a kneecap if it snaps during removal. If it looks like more than a ratchet and a level can handle, call us at (850) 801-8046. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a repair trip or a full replacement, and the estimate is free.
FAQs

Expect 15 to 20 years from GAF vinyl fencing in Miami’s climate, with rails and pickets failing first from UV exposure and salt. Posts, if set deep enough, can go 25. Coastal sections tend to age out about three to five years faster than inland neighborhoods. If your fence is past year 12 and you’re seeing multiple failures in one section, replacement usually makes more sense than chasing repairs. Call (850) 801-8046 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
Yes, most failures are repairable. Individual rails, pickets, post caps, and latches are all replaceable parts, and we do these small jobs every week in Miami. The time to replace is when three or more posts in a run have shifted, or the pickets are so UV-brittle that new pieces won’t match the color. Call (850) 801-8046 and describe what you’re seeing, and we’ll tell you which way the math falls.
A typical GAF fence installation runs one to three days depending on footage, demolition, and access. Small repairs, like a rail or latch swap, are same-visit jobs. You’ll know the timeline before we start, and the written price doesn’t change if the job runs a day longer than expected.
We keep the most common GAF Pro Series and V-200 rails, post caps, latches, and picket profiles on hand, so most one-part failures get fixed on the first visit. Less common colors or post sizes may need a day or two to order. Call (850) 801-8046, and we’ll verify what we have for your exact fence profile before we schedule the trip.
