Kohler Roofing: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Kohler roofing parts in Miami typically cost $470 – $2,125 installed, depending on whether you’re replacing a single flashing boot, a vent collar, or a full roof component set. Most Kohler-specific roofing failures we see are actually the accessory parts: vent flashings, pipe collars, and edge trim that Kohler manufactured to pair with their roof-integrated systems. The part no longer seals, water gets in, and you spot the stain on the ceiling before you ever see the roof itself. We stock the common Kohler-compatible parts on the truck, and we’ll match the exact piece to your roof before we quote you a price.
A quick note before we go further: Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent contractor. We install and source Kohler-compatible parts, but we’re not a Kohler dealer or affiliate. That said, we’ve pulled enough failed Kohler flashing and vent assemblies off Miami roofs to know exactly what you’re dealing with.
Which Kohler Models This Applies To

Kohler’s roofing line spans a few distinct product families, and the part you need depends on which one your home has. The most common we run into in Miami is the Kohler Pro-Flash series, which uses injection-molded EPDM collars sized to fit 1.5″, 2″, and 3″ vent pipes. These collars have molded-in part numbers on the underside of the skirt. If you can safely get on the roof or snap a photo from a ladder, that number tells us everything. The second family is Kohler’s ridge vent system, which interlaces with their proprietary end caps and baffle strips. Those baffles fail first, almost always at the adhesive seam where the screen meets the molded plastic.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we’ve learned the hard way: Kohler changed their vent collar diameter specs in 2019. The pre-2019 2″ collar has a 2.15″ throat, and the post-2019 version is a true 2.0″. They’re visually identical. If you buy the wrong generation, the collar seats loose and leaks within the first heavy Miami rain. We measure every part against the pipe before we install it, because this exact mismatch is behind a good number of roof repairs we get called for. Aftermarket equivalents from Oatey and RectorSeal work fine on most Kohler roofs, but the OEM collar has a thicker EPDM skirt that holds up longer against Miami’s UV. If your roof is less than 10 years old, we recommend the OEM part. Older than that, a quality aftermarket collar at half the price is usually the smarter spend.

Signs Your Kohler Roofing Is Failing
- Water staining on the ceiling near a bathroom vent or plumbing stack. This is the classic Kohler vent collar failure. The EPDM skirt dries out and cracks along the fold line, and water tracks straight down the pipe into the attic. In Miami, we see this most often after a dry spring followed by heavy summer rain.
- Granules from the shingles collecting in your gutters. This is a roof surface issue, not a Kohler part issue, but the Kohler edge trim often masks it because the trim holds moisture against the shingle edge. If you see granule piles at the drip edge, check the trim too.
- A dull, flapping sound during strong wind. Kohler ridge vent baffles are light plastic. Once the adhesive gives out, the baffle lifts and slaps against the ridge cap. That sound is the baffle already loose, not about to be. It’s done.
- Visible rust streaks below the Kohler metal edge trim. Kohler’s trim pieces have a powder-coat finish, but once the coating is breached by flying debris or a bad install, the steel underneath rusts fast in Miami’s salt air. The streaks are the tell that the trim has already failed.
- Mold spots on the attic plywood directly below a vent pipe. This is what happens when a small collar leak goes unnoticed for a season. The water wicks into the plywood, the humidity does the rest, and by the time you see the staining inside, you’re also paying for a plywood patch.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the honest pricing for Kohler-compatible roofing work in Miami, and you’ll notice we don’t make you call just to get a ballpark.
- Single vent collar replacement: $470 – $890
- Kohler ridge vent baffle replacement (up to 20 linear feet): $710 – $1,420
- Kohler edge trim replacement and reseal (per 50 feet): $1,180 – $2,125
- Full roof replacement (includes all Kohler-compatible flashings, vents, and trim): $9,440 – $23,600
What drives the range? Roof pitch, the number of penetrations, and whether the decking underneath is still sound. A one-story with a 4/12 pitch and a single vent is on the low end. A three-story in Coconut Grove with five vent pipes and a section of rotted plywood is on the high end. Every quote includes the part, the labor, the sealant, and haul-off of the old material. All our roofing work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it leaks again within a year, we come back and fix it, no invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely diagnose a lot from the ground. Toss a hose on the roof over the vent pipe while someone watches in the attic with a flashlight. If the water shows up, you know which collar failed. You can also check for lifted baffles by looking at the ridge line from across the street with a pair of binoculars. That’s the limit of what I’d recommend doing yourself.
Walking a roof in Miami to replace a collar or trim means working on a hot, often damp surface at height. The failure rate isn’t from the part, it’s from the install: wrong sealant, wrong collar generation, or a lifted shingle that didn’t get resealed. One bad step on a tile roof and you’re spending more on an ER visit than you saved. We’ll come out, match the part to your Kohler roof, and handle it with the right tools. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll schedule a time. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch.
FAQs

Kohler’s EPDM vent collars last 8 – 12 years in Miami’s UV and salt air before the fold lines crack. Their powder-coated metal trim lasts 10 – 15 years if the coating stays intact. The ridge vent baffles are the weak link; we’ve replaced baffles that failed at the 5-year mark, though 7 – 10 is more typical. That Florida sun is rough on anything that isn’t tile or slate. Wondering how much your specific repair will run? Call (850) 801-8046 for a written quote.
No, not a permanent one. You can smear a urethane sealant over a cracked collar and buy a season, maybe two. But Miami’s wet-dry cycle works that sealant loose, and the crack underneath keeps spreading. The only real fix is swapping the part. If you want us to look at it before committing, the estimate is free.
A single collar replacement takes under an hour once we’re on the roof. A baffle run under 20 feet takes about two hours. Edge trim replacement and reseal is a half-day job. Full roof replacements run 3 – 7 days depending on size and weather. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll give you a window that matches the work, not a range that covers everything.
We stock the most common Kohler-compatible vent collars in all three pipe sizes, plus edge trim profiles and the matching sealants. The oddball parts, like a custom ridge end cap from an older roof, we source from our Miami supply houses and have them within a day or two. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so if you’ve got multiple projects going, we can consolidate.
