Why Miami Homeowners Choose PGT Construction

We provide independent PGT construction, repair, and installation service across Miami Pgt service, focusing on hurricane-rated impact windows, doors, and enclosure systems. What sets our PGT work apart is simple: our crews have opened up and rebuilt enough PGT frames in Miami’s salt air and settlement-prone soil to know exactly what fails, why it fails, and the least expensive way to fix it right. If you own a PGT WinGuard window that won’t lock, or a PGT sunroom panel with a crack running from the screw hole, we can walk you through it before we ever send a truck. That’s the point of this page. Call (850) 801-8046 to talk through your PGT issue.

Call (850) 801-8046

One thing up front: Sawyer Remodel Miami is an independent PGT service provider. We are not affiliated with or authorized by PGT, and we won’t imply otherwise. What we are is a Miami General Contractor and restoration firm that has been repairing, reinstalling, and retrofitting PGT products across this city for years because so much of Miami’s housing stock depends on them. That said, we also install and service KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures. So if your PGT window job turns into a broader remodel, we’re already equipped for it.

Why Trust Sawyer Remodel Miami for Your PGT Construction?

A built-in window seat in a bay window

Trust in this trade comes from having seen the same failure enough times to predict it. Our owner, Luca Romano, grew up in Los Angeles, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and has spent decades running job sites across the country before landing in Miami. We have pulled PGT frames in Pgt repair in Coral Gables that had been shimmed wrong by the original installer. We have replaced fogged PGT sashes in Brickell high-rises where the building maintenance crew kept telling the owner it was “just condensation.” Luca built his name on straight cuts, honest timelines, and not making clients repeat themselves twice. When you call about a PGT window that won’t latch, you get the same standard: we tell you what we think is wrong, what it will cost to confirm, and what the repair options are before we touch a tool.

We service PGT products with OEM sashes, rollers, and weatherstripping whenever the frame is intact and the opening is still square. When PGT has retired a vinyl extrusion color and a matching part can’t be pulled from a local distributor, we match a quality aftermarket interlock from a regional extruder rather than force you into a full opening replacement. We understand warranty-safe practices, which means we don’t do work that quietly voids your PGT coverage and you find out two years later when the seal fails. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed. You know who’s walking into your home before they arrive. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to PGT repairs too: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Written on every project, not something you have to ask for.

Common PGT Construction Problems We Fix in Miami

Miami’s heat, humidity, salt air, and occasional hurricane-force uplift create a specific set of PGT failure modes. Here’s what we see most often:

  • Bent or misaligned interlocking meeting rails on WinGuard Aluminum horizontal rollers. Miami’s older homes settle, especially the mid-century concrete-block and stucco ones built after the 1950s. When a slab edge drops even a quarter inch, the frame racks, the meeting rail binds, and the window gets harder to open with every passing year. We’ll shim the rough opening and reset the unit if possible, or replace the rail when it’s already bent.
  • Failed foam super spacer in dual-pane WinGuard Vinyl units causing interior fogging. That fog between the glass isn’t humidity inside your house. It’s the spacer inside the insulated glass unit losing its seal. Once it fails, the only genuinely correct fix is a new sash with a fresh IGU that keeps the original impact rating. We do those sash swaps all the time.
  • Eze-Breeze vertical vinyl glazing panels cracking at the top jamb screw holes from repeated removal. Eze-Breeze panels are designed to come out, but homeowners who swap them every season sometimes overtighten the fasteners or yank the panel at an angle. The vinyl gets micro-cracks around the screw holes, then the crack runs. We replace the damaged panel and can set you up with a removal routine that doesn’t fight the frame.
  • WinGuard impact glass stress cracks radiating from a corner chip after a pressure-cycling test pass. This is a nasty one. The glass passes the pressure test, but a small chip at the corner from the original install becomes a stress riser. Weeks or months later, a crack appears and runs across the pane. The glass is doing exactly what it was designed to do, but it’s no longer certifiable. You need new glass, and we handle that.
  • Roof-to-wall connection gaps discovered when a simple window or door retrofit triggers a wind-load code review. Especially in older Miami neighborhoods like Little Havana and Shenandoah, original 1920s-30s wood-frame and concrete cottages often lack any hurricane ties. Adding a PGT impact window or door in those homes sometimes means adding the full roof-to-wall retrofit the inspector will flag. We do that work too, often as part of the same permit.

PGT Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

We stock common PGT replacement parts in our Miami shop for faster turnaround: rollers for WinGuard horizontal sliders, interlock rails, weatherstripping, and some sash balances. That means we often arrive with the part on the truck, not a promise to order it. For retired or discontinued PGT extrusion colors, we source a quality aftermarket match from a regional extruder. We tell you before we order it, show you the color swatch, and get your sign-off in writing. No surprises.

The repair-versus-replace decision is honest. If the frame is square and the original impact-rated glass is intact, we’ll repair the sash or hardware and preserve the original unit. If the frame is racked, the glass has lost its certification due to a crack or seal failure, or the opening itself needs re-flashing and shimming, we’ll tell you to spend the money once and replace the window. We make our money either way, so there’s no reason to steer you wrong. Call (850) 801-8046 and ask for a straight read on your situation.

Our PGT Service Process – Step by Step

Here’s how a typical PGT service call goes with us, whether it’s one window or an impact window installation across a whole elevation:

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the PGT unit in place: check for frame square, glass condition, seal integrity, and hardware wear. We measure and photograph everything. You get a written diagnosis and price before any work starts. That’s the only way we do business.
  2. 2
Repair or replacement. We use OEM PGT parts when the frame is intact. When we’re replacing a window or door in a Miami home, we install the hurricane-rated PGT product to meet Miami-Dade High Velocity Hurricane Zone code, including all required anchors and flashing details.
  3. 3
Test. After any PGT window or door repair or install, we operate the unit through its full range of motion, confirm the lock engagement, and verify the weatherstripping seals. No “it should work.” We watch it work.
  4. 4
Warranty. Every PGT repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails in the first year, we come back. That’s in writing.

PGT Products We Service & Install in Miami

We work on the PGT model lines most common across Miami’s single-family homes, condos, and sunrooms. That includes PGT WinGuard Vinyl single-hungs, sliders, and casements; PGT WinGuard Aluminum in both horizontal roller and single-hung configurations; PGT PremierVue multi-slide and folding door systems; and PGT Eze-Breeze vertical and horizontal sliding enclosure panels. We also handle PGT impact-rated patio doors, including replacement of fogged or cracked door sashes and re-balancing of heavy sliding panels. Our Miami shop carries a rotating stock of the most frequently needed parts for these lines so we can cut your wait time on common repairs.

We Also Service These Brands

PGT is a big part of our work in Pgt service in Miami Gardens and surrounding areas, but we’re not a single-brand shop. We also install and service KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, Kohler and Moen fixtures, GAF and James Hardie exteriors, and more. If your PGT repair expands into a kitchen remodel, a bathroom overhaul, or a full exterior update, you don’t need to hire a second company and start from zero.

FAQs – PGT Construction Service in Miami

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

Why is my PGT WinGuard sliding glass door getting harder to open every summer?

In Miami, the usual cause is a combination of slab settlement and humid air swelling the frame and roller tracks. The frame drops slightly out of square, the rollers wear against the aluminum track, and you start leaning into the door harder every month. We’ll check the frame square, replace the rollers if they’re worn, and shim or adjust the opening if the slab has moved. Call (850) 801-8046 for an exact diagnosis and price. Estimates are free.

Can you replace just the fogged glass in a PGT WinGuard vinyl window, or do I need a whole new sash?

The glass unit in an impact-rated PGT WinGuard window is bonded into the sash. You can’t replace just the IGU without compromising the impact rating. The correct repair is a new sash with the original impact-rated glass, installed using PGT-compatible fasteners and seals. We handle full sash replacements regularly and can confirm the exact cost for your size and series.

My PGT Eze-Breeze sunroom panels are cracking at the screw holes – is that a warranty issue?

Usually not. PGT’s Eze-Breeze warranty typically covers manufacturing defects, not damage from repeated removal, over-tightened fasteners, or panel impact. Cracks at the top jamb screw holes are a known wear pattern from taking panels in and out seasonally. We can replace the cracked panels and adjust how they’re mounted so it doesn’t keep happening. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll get you a written number.

Does a PGT impact window need a different roof flashing detail than a regular window?

Yes. In Miami’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone, impact windows require flashing details that handle both water intrusion and wind-driven rain at the head, sill, and jambs. On tile roofs we see, the head flashing has to lap the tile course properly or you’ll get a leak that runs down the inside of the frame. We flash PGT windows to Miami-Dade code, inspect the existing roof-to-wall interface, and pull permits. Inspections pass because the work is done right.

Can you match a PGT WinGuard color from 2008 for a single replacement window?

If the extrusion color is still in production, yes, we can order it directly. If PGT has retired that color, we source an aftermarket match from a regional extruder and get your sign-off on the color swatch before ordering. It’s not always a perfect match in direct sunlight, but it’s far less expensive than replacing every window to get consistency. We’ll show you exactly what we mean before you spend a dollar.

How much does PGT construction cost in Miami?

Pricing in Miami runs from a few hundred dollars for a basic PGT window hardware repair to over $29,000 for a full impact window installation across a large elevation. The table below gives you realistic ranges for the PGT work we handle most often in Miami:

Service Miami Price Range
Impact Window Installation $9,440 – $29,500
Window Replacement $5,310 – $17,700
Roof Replacement $9,440 – $23,600
Roof Repair $470 – $2,125
Showcase Kitchen Remodel $16,520 – $53,100

These are planning numbers, not quotes. Your price depends on the size, the number of openings, the access, and whether we’re doing a one-off repair or a full set. Call (850) 801-8046 or email for an exact, written quote. Estimates are free.

Is Sawyer Remodel Miami authorized by PGT?

No. We are an independent PGT service provider. We are not affiliated with or authorized by PGT. What that means for you: we don’t wait on factory authorization to start your repair, we don’t charge factory-trained-dealer pricing, and we don’t angle to sell you a whole new branded system when a single OEM sash will fix the problem. It’s a different model, and a lot of Miami owners prefer it that way.

Do you use genuine PGT/OEM parts?

Yes, whenever the frame is intact and the part is still in production. For retired or discontinued parts, we search local and regional distributors first. If nothing surfaces, we source a quality aftermarket match and show you what we’re ordering before we place it. You’ll always know what’s going in.

How long does PGT service take?

Most single-window PGT repairs can be scheduled and completed in a day once we have the parts on hand. Sash replacements and impact window installations across multiple openings take longer, usually one to three days depending on the scope. Before any work starts, you’ll get a written schedule with a live arrival time on the day of service. No four-hour windows, no waiting around for a truck that might not show.

What PGT models/series do you cover?

We service WinGuard Vinyl single-hungs, sliders, casements, and picture windows; WinGuard Aluminum horizontal rollers and single-hungs; PremierVue multi-slide and folding door systems; and Eze-Breeze vertical and horizontal sliding enclosure panels. We also handle PGT impact patio doors, including fogged sash replacement and re-balancing.

Will service void my PGT warranty?

Not if it’s done correctly. We use OEM parts and follow PGT-compatible installation practices, which means we don’t alter the frame, shim openings sloppily, or swap in non-impact glass. We also document every repair so you have a paper trail if a warranty claim ever comes up. If the unit is still under factory warranty and the failure is a legitimate manufacturing defect, we’ll tell you to file the claim first. We’re not in the business of charging you for work the factory should cover.
