Techo-Bloc Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
A full Techo-Bloc bathroom remodel in Miami typically runs $10,620 to $33,040, and that range covers everything from gutting the existing space to installing new wall panels, flooring, fixtures, and waterproofing. Most Techo-Bloc owners call us when they spot warping at panel seams, water staining along the base, or grout that keeps cracking no matter how many times it’s patched.
We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible wall panels, trim profiles, and waterproofing components on our Miami trucks, so we can usually match your existing pattern and finish without ordering from a regional distributor. The catch is that Techo-Bloc bathroom products use a proprietary interlocking channel system, which means generic big-box panels won’t seat correctly. If you’ve already tried swapping in an off-the-shelf panel and the seam won’t close, that’s the reason.
We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components when a remodel calls for mixing materials. But when the Techo-Bloc system is staying, the replacement parts need to be Techo-Bloc spec.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc’s bathroom product line includes their Shale, Graphix, and Borealis wall panel series, plus the matching corner trim and waterproof base channels. The Shale series uses a matte, slate-like texture with a 24-inch by 48-inch panel format. Graphix runs the same dimensions but with a smoother, more polished face. Borealis is the textured option with a light-catching grain pattern.
Identifying your model is easier than most owners expect. Pull one panel edge away from the wall at a corner seam and look for the molded code stamped on the back lip. Techo-Bloc prints a batch code plus a series letter: S for Shale, G for Graphix, B for Borealis. If the stamp is faded or painted over, measure the panel: all three series run 24 by 48 inches, but the locking channel depth differs. Shale uses a 5mm channel, Graphix runs 6.5mm, and Borealis runs 7mm. A panel from the wrong series will hang loose or bind at the seam.
For the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Techo-Bloc panels and trim are proprietary, and no quality aftermarket equivalent exists that fits the locking system. Aftermarket mounting clips and waterproof adhesive are fine. Aftermarket panels are not. In Miami’s humidity, a panel that doesn’t seat fully in the channel will trap moisture behind it, and that’s how you get mold you can’t see until the whole wall comes down.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Panel edges lifting at the seam. The interlocking channel has lost its grip, usually because the wall behind it shifted or the original installer didn’t shim the substrate flat. Hairline gaps let steam and splash water run behind the panel.
- Black or green staining along the bottom channel. This is mold working its way out from behind the base trim. It means the waterproof seal at the floor line failed at some point, and by the time you see it, the wall cavity needs to be opened and dried.
- Grout or caulk cracking within weeks of replacement. Techo-Bloc panels are designed to move slightly with temperature and humidity swings. Miami’s humidity runs high year-round, and if the panels were installed too tight against each other or the substrate isn’t planar, the movement cracks rigid fillers fast.
- A hollow sound when you knock on a panel. The adhesive has delaminated from the substrate. This happens when the original wall prep skipped primer or the adhesive wasn’t rated for high-moisture exposure. The panel is still on the wall, but it’s no longer sealed.
- Persistent musty smell that gets worse after showers. Moisture is trapped behind the panel system. Even if everything looks fine on the surface, the smell tells you water is somewhere it shouldn’t be.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s how pricing breaks down for Techo-Bloc bathroom remodels in Miami:
| Scope | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Single panel replacement (labor included) | $945 – $2,360 |
| One-wall panel system replacement | $4,130 – $8,260 |
| Full bathroom remodel with Techo-Bloc panels | $10,620 – $33,040 |
| Small bathroom remodel (Techo-Bloc shower surround only) | $5,900 – $14,160 |
What drives the spread: bathroom size, whether we’re keeping your existing fixtures or swapping them, ceiling height, and whether the substrate behind the panels needs repair. In Miami, we regularly find water-damaged drywall or greenboard behind failing Techo-Bloc installs, and that repair happens before any new panel goes up.
Every quote includes the panels, trim, mounting hardware, waterproofing, labor, and cleanup. The price you approve is the price you pay. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year after install. If a seam opens or a panel fails in that window, we’re back out to fix it, no invoice, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re swapping a single panel and the wall behind it is dry and flat, an experienced DIYer can handle it with the right adhesives and a clean channel seat. That’s the honest answer. What we see go wrong in Miami is owners treating it like peel-and-stick tile. Techo-Bloc panels need a properly primed substrate, the right adhesive pattern, and channel alignment that tolerates expansion. If the wall behind the panel is soft, mold-stained, or out of plane, the new panel will fail the same way the old one did.
If any panel is showing mold, if the substrate feels soft, or if water has been running behind the system, call us at (850) 801-8046. Opening a wet wall without protecting the rest of the bathroom spreads spores through the whole house. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch. What it needs is the right prep, and that’s what we quote for.
FAQs

A properly installed Techo-Bloc system lasts 20 to 30 years in Miami’s climate, provided the substrate was prepped correctly and the panels have room to expand. Installations that fail in 5 to 8 years almost always trace back to substrate problems, not the panels themselves. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll tell you what’s actually going on behind your panels, with a written quote before any work starts.
No. Techo-Bloc panels are molded as single pieces, and once a crack runs through the face, the waterproof envelope is compromised. Patching with sealant or epoxy is a temporary bandage that fails again, usually within months in Miami’s humidity. Replacement is the only lasting fix.
A single-panel replacement runs 4 to 6 hours including removal, substrate inspection, and installation. A full bathroom remodel with Techo-Bloc panels runs 7 to 14 days depending on scope, tile work, and plumbing changes. We give you a written timeline before we start, and your arrival window is tracked to the minute under The Relay Visibility Guarantee.
We keep common Shale, Graphix, and Borealis panels, trim, and mounting hardware on our trucks. If your pattern or batch is a less common one, we source it from Techo-Bloc’s Florida distribution network, usually within 3 to 5 business days. Call (850) 801-8046 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
